Taking Up Space Exhibitions October-December 2026
Women artists make up just 2% of the global art market and 13.7% of gallery representation in Europe and North America. Taking Up Space is our response.
Rather than waiting for the gatekeepers, our artists create their own opportunities. Once a year, women and non-binary artists around the world open their own exhibitions, supported by our step-by-step course, templates and community.
This year’s shows run through November, explore them below.

Eleven abstract works on paper that read like cityscapes: under duress, in transition and above all vibrant. Each piece takes its title from Layered Cities, a poetry collection Martine wrote for this show. The poems draw on her childhood in Iran and her years in Afghanistan. On view at ARTcafé Maastricht.
